What is a slump test register?
A slump test register records every slump test on fresh concrete: when and where it was taken, the truck or batch, the specified slump and its tolerance, the measured slump and its type, and what was done with the load. It shows whether concrete arriving on site had the workability the mix was designed for.
Each test belongs to a load in the delivery log of the concrete pour register.
What is in the slump test register workbook?
- Project Details — project particulars and the register's period.
- Slump Register — one row per test, with the limits, result and checks calculated.
- Summary — tests, results, rejected loads and loads accepted outside limits, overall and by grade.
- Filled Sample — eight tests across three pours.
How does the slump test register sheet calculate?
- Lower limit = specified slump − tolerance, and upper limit = specified slump + tolerance.
- Result: a shear slump is REPEAT TEST and a collapse slump COLLAPSE whatever the reading; otherwise LOW below the lower limit, HIGH above the upper, and WITHIN LIMITS between.
- A row without a specified slump or tolerance shows SET SPEC / TOLERANCE instead of a result.
- The check flags a load accepted while low, high or collapsed with nothing in Remarks, and a load accepted on a shear reading.
Worked example from the sample sheet, with an example tolerance of ±25 mm on a 100 mm slump: the fourth truck measured 70 mm, below the 75 mm lower limit, and was accepted with no reason recorded, so it is flagged. The fifth measured 160 mm and was rejected. On the column pour the first reading was a shear slump; the repeat gave a true slump of 110 mm.
How do you use the slump test register template?
- Fill in Project Details.
- For each test, enter the date, time, pour and location, grade and truck or batch number.
- Enter the specified slump and its tolerance from the mix design or specification, the measured slump and the type of slump.
- Record the action, and for a load accepted outside the limits, the reason in Remarks.
- Read the Result and Check columns and the Summary.
What should you check before relying on the slump test register?
- No slump or tolerance is supplied. They come from your mix design, specification or RMC agreement.
- A shear slump is not a valid reading. Repeat the test on another portion of the sample and enter the repeat as its own row.
- Water added at site to raise the slump changes the mix. Record it, and follow your specification on whether it is allowed.
What does each column mean?
| Column | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| Date / Time / Pour No. / Grade / Truck | When and where the test was taken, the grade, and the truck or batch the sample came from. |
| Specified Slump / Tolerance | From the mix design, specification or RMC agreement. None is supplied; a row without them says so. |
| Measured Slump | The slump measured on the sample, in mm. |
| Type of Slump | True, shear or collapse. A shear slump is not a valid reading and is marked for a repeat test. |
| Lower / Upper Limit | Auto-calculated. Specified slump minus and plus the tolerance. |
| Result | Auto-calculated. Within limits, low, high, repeat test, or collapse. |
| Action | Accepted, rejected, adjusted, or retested after a shear slump. |
| Check | Auto-calculated. Flags a load accepted outside the limits with no reason recorded, or accepted on a shear reading. |
| Summary | Tests, results, rejected loads and loads accepted outside limits, overall and by grade. |
Each slump test belongs to a load in the delivery log of the concrete pour register, and the cubes cast from the same concrete go into the cube test register.

A progress record is measured against the estimate it reports against. Upload your drawings and InstaBOQ builds the measured BOQ — so "work executed today" can be tracked line by line against a real quantity.
