Not the right tool? Labour-only contract: labour bill. Paying workers by attendance: labour wages.

Step 1 of 2

Counts the days in your wage week, Sundays off.

Net ₹ 5,875.00

Net ₹ 4,675.00

Net ₹ 3,120.00

Net ₹

Up to 60 workers, the size of the muster roll workbook. A worker with no daily wage is marked and left out of the totals, never paid as ₹0.

Step 2 of 2

A wage period here is at most 31 days.

8-hour day · overtime 2×

Overtime = OT hours × (daily wage ÷ normal hours) × multiplier. 2 is the statutory overtime rate for building and construction workers; change it if your contract differs.

How the wages are calculated

  • Days worked = days present + ½ × half days.
  • Basic wages = days worked × daily wage.
  • Overtime wages = OT hours × (daily wage ÷ normal hours per day) × overtime multiplier.
  • Net payable = basic + overtime − advance − PF/ESI − other deductions.
  • A worker with no daily wage is marked RATE MISSING and left out of the totals — never paid as ₹0.

Worked example

Questions

How do you calculate overtime wages for a construction worker?

Divide the daily wage by the normal working hours to get the hourly rate, then multiply by the overtime hours and by the overtime multiplier. At Rs. 850 a day for an 8-hour day and a multiplier of 2, six hours of overtime is 850 / 8 x 6 x 2 = Rs. 1,275.

Why is the overtime multiplier 2?

The statutory overtime rate for building and construction workers is twice the ordinary rate of wages, so the calculator starts at 2. Change it if your contract or the law that applies to your site says otherwise.

How is a half day counted?

As half a day worked. Five full days and one half day is 5.5 days, paid at 5.5 x the daily wage.

Does the calculator include minimum wage rates?

No. Minimum wages are notified by the Central or State government by category of worker and revised from time to time. Enter the rate in force for a worker and the calculator flags any daily wage below it.

Is my crew list saved on your server?

Only if you sign in: then each wage sheet is kept in My work, and next week starts with your crew on any phone or computer. Signed out, nothing you type is stored by InstaBOQ; if you choose to keep the crew on this device, it stays only in your own browser. Clear it any time.

Can I get this as an Excel muster roll?

Yes. "Download as muster roll" gives you the free muster roll and wage register workbook with your workers, trades, wages, overtime and deductions already filled in. Mark the daily attendance in the workbook and it calculates the same wages.
